A bulk petroleum distributor provides bulk petroleum products (gasoline, diesel, oils, greases, solvents and other petroleum products) to their customers from one of their three bulk storage facilities (two facilities in Illinois and one facility in Wisconsin). Materials are stored in 55 gallon drums and large above ground storage tanks inside and outside the buildings. We were retained to prepare the required Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans for all three facilities in accordance with US EPA regulation 40 CFR Part 112 (Oil Pollution Prevention).
We completed an initial site visit/inspection at each of the three facilities to determine current compliance with the regulations. As part of the overall project, we completed the necessary engineering calculations for the sizing of the containment areas, prepared the necessary site layout drawings and provided good engineering practice recommendations for those areas of the facilities (if any) that were not in compliance with the requirements of the regulations.
We then prepared the actual written SPCC plans for each facility in accordance with 40 CFR Part 112. The final plan was then reviewed by our staff Professional Engineer and the final plan was signed by client management and the professional engineer.
